About The Event
Date/ Time: Sundays 10am-12pm, Jun 28, Jul 5, 12 and 19.
Course Introduction:
This course is ideal for anyone interested in painting with water-based media. Students will explore foundational techniques ranging from foundation painting principal to creative expression, using a variety of still life subjects. The class includes instruction on using different tools, water control, brushstrokes, contour, light and shadow, color relationships, and textural effects. Emphasis is placed on developing technique and observational skills with water-based materials.
Tool & Material:
Pencils HB, 2B, 4B, water color set, Golden acrylic paints, brushes with a round head, flat head, brush #12 and #0 size, watercolor paper, color paper
Class #1: Pigment properties, dry vs wet, surface and texture
Class #2: Lights, tone and shadow
Class #3: Color wheel, brightness vs saturation, color in season
Class #4: Composition, positive and negative space
Class #5: Impasto in oil painting vs watercolor washes
Class #6: The artist's decision in mix
About teaching artist:
Maxine Leu is an interdisciplinary artist, art educator, and environmentalist from Taiwan. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture at the State University of New York at New Paltz and her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Tainan University of Technology (TUT), Tainan, Taiwan. Her work focuses on the environment, communication, and identity. Leu has been promoting workshops about Printmaking, Sculpture, Eco-friendly and recycling Art, and Traditional Chinese Art in a number of places since 2015.
